Fall musings

Well I haven't been here for 2 months, my bad. This fall was pretty uneventful, I didn't fish as often as I would have liked but I did get out.
The fall muskie tournaments went well with plenty of fish caught and released. We had an excellent turn out for the 25 anniversary of the annual tournament and the Idso Muskie Fest went well. I finally caught a muskie about 3 weeks ago. A nice healthy 33 inch fish, caught on a Salmo in 2 feet of water on Big Spirit. I went out the next week with friends Scott Bringle and Dennis Heidebrink and had 3 follows. This was the most action I had all year.
I caught some nice keeper walleyes on Spirit, on a slipbobber,1/16th ounce jig and a minnow, 8-12 feet of water around weed clumps that were still green. I have also been catching some nice eyes casting from shore.
I put the Ranger away 2 weeks ago and have been kind moping around since then. I have done a little pheasant hunting and will be going duck and goose hunting Friday the 18th. I am hoping that Rick Dicus will be able to get up here to go along.
I guess that as far as fishing goes now I am waiting for hard water. I have the Strikemaster and Fishtrap ready to go! The Vexilar's battery is charged and the reels have fresh line. I don't think it will be too long now,the temp this AM was 15 degrees.
